Thu, 30 April 2009 Hi! Remember me, your friendly neighborhood podcaster? I know I have been a bad, bad monkey this year and haven't updated nearly as often as I promised myself, and worse less than I promised you. I am attempting to remedy that. I come bearing this peace offering of a NEW EPISODE. The title bears a bit of explanation.. aside from the obvious Dr. Strangelove reference. As some of you who may have been listening to the show since the olden days (1998) may remember from my old bio, I used to be Goth. While I still like some of that music, and maybe still retain some of the dress sensibilites now and again (I'm actually wearing black nail polish right now for the first time since 2000 that isn't a Halloween occasion); I left that scene long ago for one main reason. Music snobbery. It's ironic in a way that a sub-culture that prides themselves on being "different" is in fact no less cliquey than any other subculture. That's not to say it applies to everyone, I still maintain friendships with a handful of more open-minded people; but as a whole I got quite bored with the pompous attitudes where if you didn't like someone you weren't "Goth" enough or if you did like someone (who wasn't Goth; say "The Beatles") then you were a poseur. It seemed ludicrous to me as a music lover to narrow my tastes to such a level, esp. when I have the belief that all music evolves in some manner from the music that precedes it. Therefore Goth and Industrial, which has it's roots in Progressive, Punk, and Glam (and a smattering of others depending what you're listening to); really has no right to discount another style, esp. as without those preceeding movements it would otherwise not exist. Towards the tail end of my Goth period, for a short period of time on Tuesday nights, DJ Winston would host a night of non-Goth tunes but at ManRay (boston's now-defunct Goth mecca). It didn't last long because attendence was low, but it was one of the best times I had ever had at that club. It was the night that introduced me to Gary Numan (or at least songs beyond the hit "Cars" anyway) and T. Rex. He was the person who influenced me to see the film "Velvet Goldmine", and taught me it was OK to dance to the Beastie Boys even if I was draped in tafetta and wearing 5" platform boots. I could finally dust off all those CDs I had put into hiding, fearing people would judge me. I learned not to care what other people thought what I should like, and to just be myself. As part of this acceptance I also re-embraced house & techno (which I had liked in a previous incarnation as a raver in the early 1990s) as well as a whole slew of other styles, and haven't stopped learning to love new things ever since. It's one of the reasons some of these setlists have such varied genre: and to pay homage to that fact this setlist continues in that vein. One of my favorite club classics continues to be "The Bomb" by The Bucketheads from 1994. It inspired me to make this set (bomb themed) and as such contains a mix of various mixes of the song clocking in at about 12 minutes in the middle of the set. Setlist: 1) Time Bomb [Single Mix] by Royal Crescent Mob 0:00 2) Bombin' the L by Fun Lovin' Criminals 3:58 3) Atom Bomb by Fluke 7:09 4) The Bomber by Aphrodite 12:06 5) Twisted Bomb by Odesio & Fabio 16:03 6 - 8) "The Bomb!" Wed, 11 March 2009 Really, I swear I am trying to get these out more often!!! Finally after thinking about it, oh two years ago, I came up with a St. Patrick's Day set that incorporates fun modernized (not stale and drab) traditional Irish Drinking Songs with a few other songs by Irish artists. Mon, 9 February 2009 As you may recall from last year, it's a tradition to in fact celebrate anti-Valentine's Day; a.k.a. 'Blackhearts" each February the 14th. As such I'm continuing on in that vein for this year. As a random aside, to answer a question previously posed; No, I have no idea if the name has anthing to do with Joan Jett's band "The Blackhearts"... though if it did, that would indeed make it infinitely cooler! Will future Valentines' ever elicit proper love songs? Even I don't know... Mon, 26 January 2009 Hi, and welcome to 2009. I have to apologize as one of my resolutions this year was to try and keep on top of the show and not be late with episodes. As you can tell I broke that one right out of the gate. To try and make up for this small oversight I'll be posting two episodes today one post-dated for January 26th and the second for earlier this week February 9th. This post is for the 1/29/09 episode, entitled "Teenage Rampage". Some of the best rock songs ever seem to be about teenage rebellion, angst, etc.. so yeah thought I'd give that a whirl. Mon, 20 October 2008 Hey all. Sorry I haven't been too consistent with getting out episodes this year. Things have been a little hectic from time to time. I think I'm going to make it my New Year's resolution to try a bit harder next year. In order to make up for it I'm posting two episodes this week. Both are October/Halloween themed episodes. This one, entitled "Out Comes the Evil" predictably contains songs with the word Evil in them. Hope you forgive, and enjoy! Happy Halloween. Mon, 6 October 2008 Posted a tad late (okay more like two weeks), the second of the October/Halloween themed episodes. This one strictly focuses on the Autumn season, though it doesn't necessarily stick to songs with only "Autumn" in the titles. Bit of a mix actually, but I liked how it ended up. The songs kind of pool together in a sound similar to the actual falling of leaves, the wind blowing, etc... Also I really felt like putting "California Dreamin'" in there (all the leaves are brown/and the sky is grey) but decided to be a little different and use the Bobby Womack rendition; though the Mamas and the Papas would have worked just as well. And yeah I know.. All Souls Night is technically in November.. and that Scarborough Fair traditionally ran from August 15th into late September.. but I liked how they flowed in the set. REMINDER: Before e-mailing me regarding questions, problems, requests, please read the F.A.Q!http://ishtarandromeda.libsyn.com/index.php?post_id=104989 Setlist: 1) Leaves Falling by Bill and Tammy's Children's World Music Expo 0:00 2) October Dreams by John Kay 2:57 3) Maple Leaf Rag by Scott Joplin 6:22 4) Autumn Leaves by Ray Brown 9:30 5) Autumn in New York by Billie Holiday 14:54 6) When October Goes by Barry Manilow 18:42 7) California Dreamin' by Bobby Womack 22:35 8) Scarborough Fair/Canticle by Simon and Garfunkel 25:50 9) All Souls Night by Loreena McKennitt 28:54 10) And the Wood Comes into Leaf by Love Spirals Downward 33:52 11) October (Love Song) by Chris and Cosey 38:31 12) Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground by The White Stripes 42:18 13) Supernatural Equinox by Outrageous Cherry 45:14 14) Autumn Acid by µ-Ziq 49:00 15) Equinox by Orbital 52:35 16) Antonio Vivaldi: Le quattro stagioni (The Four Seasons) - Concerto No. 3 in F major, Op. 8, RV 293, "L'autunno" (Autumn) 57:47

Fri, 22 August 2008 So I got this idea, right? I wanted to do a podcast on Greek Mythology. Only problem was I had too many songs, even for an extended episode. So I decided to break it up ito chapters. There will be quite a few episodes (I'm guessing without having put them together yet, about five) posted over the next few weeks. They might even be pseudo-educational (though that doesn't mean that the "explicit" tag has been removed: just a note for you parents out there). This episode is about Primodial Deities and The Olympians REMINDER: Before e-mailing me regarding questions, problems, requests, please read the F.A.Q!http://ishtarandromeda.libsyn.com/index.php?post_id=104989 Setlist: Primordial Deities: They existed before anything else and created the earth and the universe. In the beginning there was only Chaos, God of Nothingness. The earth was without form and void (I think I just stole that from te Genesis chapter of the bible?). He made from himself five children, Gaia (Goddess of the Earth), Tartarus (God of the Underworld), Nyx (Goddess of Night {Earth Darkness}), Erebus (God of Shadow {Tartarus Darkness}) and Eros (Goddess of Lust). Nyx and Erebus bore Aether (God of Heaven) and Hemera (Goddess of Day). Lastly there was Chronos (God of Time). 1) A Chaos of Desire by Alio Die 0:00 2) Earth (Gaia) by The Orb 3:40 3) Tartarus by Chris Huelsbeck 13:20 4) Tongue of Nyx by Imajika 16:30 5) The Erebus and the Terror by Billy Oskay 17:28 6) Eros by Ensemble Melponem 21:55 7) Aether 2 by Moodra 22:37 8) Hemere Persat by J.S.R. 23:57 9) Chronos Reel/Reel Around the Sun by Cormac 27:56
The Olympians: Gaia created from herself the god Uranus. She took him as a husband and they bore many children, including the Titans (to be covered in a later chapter). Two of these Titans, Cronus (not to be confused with Chronos above) and Rhea bore five children: Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, Demeter, and Hestia. Zeus then fathered the rest of the Olympians with various women. Ares and Hephaestus with Hera, Hermes with the nymph Maia, Aphrodite from Dione, Athena from Metis, Apollo and Artemis from Leto, and Dionysus from Semele. There are twleve Olympians (though you will count thirteen on this list). Hestia growing tired of her postion left the mount and turned over her rights to Dionysus. You may also notice the absence of Hades, who is not technically an Olympian (as he resides in the Underworld) who will be covered at a later time. Aphrodite (Goddess of Love) 10) Aphrodite by Colette and Phil 31:40 Dionysus (God of Wine) 11) Dionysus by Jocelyn Pook 37:25 Hephaestus (God of Fire and Crafting) 12) Hephaestus (Original Mix) by Matheos 41:48 Demeter (Goddess of Agriculture) 13) On Demeter by Rachel's 46:52 Ares (God of War) 14) Ares by Kelly Andrew Keveny 53:37 Hera (Goddess of Marriage) 15) Hera by Theophilos 57:21 Hestia (Goddess of the Hearth) 16) Hestia by The Voices 1:01:03 Hermes (The God of Everything Not Already Covered. He was the Messenger of the Gods as well as the Guide of Dead Souls. He was alo the patron god of travelers, thieves, literature, orators, shepards and cowherds. It's probably a good thing he could run so fast!) 17) Hermes by Santana 1:10:41 Zeus (God of Thunder and Ruler of Olympus) 18) Oh Mighty Zeus [from Disney's "Hercules"] 1:14:43 Athena (Goddess of Warfare* and Domestic Arts. Athena differs from Ares in that she is the Goddess of civilised warfare, as opposed to frenzied uncontrolled barbarian-like rage, which is more what Ares is all about.) 19) Athena by The Who 1:15:20 Apollo (God of Healing and Music) 20) Apollo by Way Out West 1:19:00 Poseidon (God of the Sea) 21) Bulls of Poseidon by Gabriel Aliman 1:26:50 Artemis (Goddess of Animals and the Hunt) 22) Artemis by Dali's Car 1:32:20 Comments[0] |
Thu, 31 July 2008 I've been serverly addicted to song #2 {Shadowlands by Kula Shaker} on this week's setlist for a couple of weeks now, so partially in a effort to include the song in a podcast and partially just because the songs ended up making a really beautiful (if somewhat melancholy) set, this weeks episode is all about shade and shadows. Also included in this set is what I call "die Bauhausschule" section of the podcast. This occurs at towards the end in which various offshoots (Daniel Ash and David J.) of the band Bauhaus as well as bands directly influenced by Bauhaus ("Black Rebel Motorcycle Club" as influenced by the Bauhaus offshoot "Love and Rockets" and "Love Like Blood" influenced by fellow Bauhaus "Beggar's Banquet" labelmates "Fields of the Nephilim") as well as Bauhaus themselves appear. REMINDER: Before e-mailing me regarding questions, problems, requests, please read the F.A.Q!http://ishtarandromeda.libsyn.com/index.php?post_id=104989 Setlist: 1) Moonlight Shadow by Mike Oldfield and Maggie Reilly 0:00 2) Shadowlands by Kula Shaker 3:31 3) Shadowland by Heather Headley {from the musical "Disney presents The Lion King"} 7:34 4) Shadow Magnet by Lisa Gerrard and Pieter Bourke 11:58 5) Between the Shadows by Loreena McKennit 19:11 6) Shadows of the Tower by Stuart Chatwood 22:44 7) A Whiter Shade of Pale by Procol Harem 24:21 8) Shades of Gray by The Monkees 28:19 9) Forever Night Shade Mary by The Latin Playboys 31:37 10) Book of Shadows by Meat Beat Manifesto 34:34 11) Shadows by The Blue Man Group 40:13 Die Bauhausschule segment:

Wed, 16 July 2008 Well this episode should hopefully be more fun than a barrel of... well you know. Surprisingly, there's a lot of obscenity is songs about something as innocent as monkeys, so ths isn't child friendly at all (are they ever really?) As per usual I had like two of three ideas and this ended up being the best of them, so hope you like it. Thu, 26 June 2008 Heyo! This week's episode is all about sharp things. Knives, saws, razors... well you get the idea. The interesting thing I found about this set is that songs about things that are sharp also tend to have a sharp sort of sound to them, so you'll find a lot of the time the stillness of one track brutally interrupted by the harsh unrepentant sounds of another. It's a bit more avant garde then my usual sets, so it may not be for everyone... but I like how it came out. Tue, 10 June 2008 This one has been kicking around in the "potential playlist" file for a while and I just couldn't get worked out musically due to the varying styles. Then in a sudden bout of inspiration it just sort of clicked, so I made it and here it is. A couple songs technically belong in other setlists (Words, Voices Carry) but I decided to put them here instead to illustate a point. Thu, 22 May 2008 Yeah... so this weeks episode is all about time. And what a fleeting thing it is, because somewhere I lost an entire week without realizing it. I thought about doing an episode last Tuesday and talked myself out of it ("nah you just did one") but apprently I hadn't "just done one" and should have went with my first instict, as now this episode is a week late. Wed, 30 April 2008 I was originally going to do the podcast about royalty in general, until I realized that yes, I have enough songs to actually divide them up King/Queen, Prince/Princess, etc. so instead I went with the King only theme. Due to the diversity of genres in this one I had a bit of a harder time than usual making it flow as smoothly as I normally like, but I think it came out pretty good regardless. Also you may have noticed I put a bit more detail in the descriptions of some works (particularly instrumentals), this is partially due to distinguish either classical works which may have many different renditions (depending on orchestra/conductor) and/or music from films, musicals, etc. whose source material may not be clear (i.e. the Lion King film versus Broadway). Wed, 2 April 2008 Sorry this episode is a wee bit late. Among other things my CD-Rom broke and I couldn't rip tracks. I also had some personal issues that kept me busy for the past couple of weeks. This episode is dedicated to my friends, who listened to me when I needed them the most, and to the many artists (some of whom regularly feature in the show) who write songs that inspire me and help me through both good times and bad. You are all my "light" and with your guidance I can overcome whatever obstacles lay ahead. Wed, 27 February 2008 So as I sit here looking out the window at snow... again... and thinking about how Punxatawney Phil saw his shadow this year which means there's at least two more weeks left of winter (since that was four weeks ago) I figured: never underestimate the power of positive thinking, and decided to make an extra long set of songs all about the sun. Sat, 9 February 2008 So I was trying to come up with a Valentine's Day sort of theme, I was originally going to do songs with "heart" in the titles... but had way too many songs and couldn't decide which ones I wanted more than others. In the meantime I have been archiving my old websites and came across the setlist for January 19, 2000's episode "Love Stinks" which was always one of my favorites. As is probably obvious, I had just had a really bad breakup about 4 months prior to the episodes original airing, so it's not really nice and fluffy. I kept all the same songs (so no need for the usual flashback asterisks) just reorganized them into a better mix. There are also two "blocks" in this set as I had far less CDs back in 2000 than I have now, so hope you really like Prozzak and "Weird Al" Yankovic a lot. As far as the title, it is named after a party a friend of mine in college used to throw every Valentine's day, in which you were not allowed to do anything Valentiney whatsoever (no dates, no hooking up while at the party, etc.). Stictly meant as an antithesis to the entire holiday, so I thought it appropriate. Mon, 28 January 2008 This week's theme has to do with all things military. Originally it was meant only to be about various ranks (General, Major, Sergeant, Etc.) but I kind of ran out of songs and improvised a bit. Also included in this set is the track "... Of Free Enterprise" by Coil for my friend Terri, though it does not specifically have a name having anything to do with the military, because she and I always joked it sounded a bit like a Salvation Army Band being slaughtered by Cenobites (Coil was at one point Clive Barker's favorite band). It also begins and ends with skits by my favorite comedian, Eddie Izzard, because I just couldn't resist putting either the bit about the 1st Battalion Transvestite Brigade nor the bit about using Orange Frooties as weaponry out. So without futher ado... Mon, 14 January 2008 I was feeling scandalous, what can I say? It all started because I was looking for the good version of Masochist by Die Form (version 4) and kind of just spiraled from there. Mon, 31 December 2007 Alrighty, for those of you that don't read the MySpace page, it's been a crazy december here, and though I did try to get up a Christmas episode, I was doomed from the start because everytime I tried to upload new songs, my computer would be all pesky and give me error messages, so I took the month off instead. Fri, 5 October 2007 O.K. yeah it's up early, but it was done and I figured why not? It's October and that means.... Halloween Themed Episodes once again!!!!!!!!! (I think I'm more excited about this than you are). Anyways, this all all about those things that go bump in the night, ghosts, spectres, phantoms, spirits, and the whole shebang. It starts off a little fluffy, but becomes more eerie in the middle and includes by far the creepiest song I own which is not about ghosts at all but I put it in for effect; Pica's "Caller On Line One", as well as a couple others I snuck in there regardless of title because they just fit nice. Tue, 25 September 2007 O.K. then I admit I was a little caught off guard this week. Normally I have episodes set up weeks in advance, and this week since I've been busy I found my self with a whole list of unfinished playlists but no completed episodes to play. I had previously started a theme about "fire" and then scrapped it, only to then hear "Fire On High" this weekend, so I recreated the setlist using the bits that weren't crappy and well here you go. I am pretty satisfied with it considering I hated the first attempt, so I hope you like it too. Wed, 15 August 2007 OK, so first off, I made this one a bit closer to the usual length. Apparently the three hour episode from last week was a bit too long to handle as only about half of my usual audience bothered with it. I'm stealing a little bit from those old "Crazy Eddie's Superstore" ads we used to have when I was younger with the title of this one, but essentially it's all songs about insanity and craziness... whee *weaves baskets* REMINDER: Before e-mailing me regarding questions, problems, requests, please read the F.A.Q!http://ishtarandromeda.libsyn.com/index.php?post_id=104989 Setlist: 1) Let's Go Crazy by Prince and the Revolution 0:00 2) Crazy for You by Madonna 4:37 3) Crazy by Men at Work 8:02 4) Love You Like Crazy by Chaka Demus and Pliers 10:33 5) Virtual Insanity by Jamiroquai 14:07 6) Crazy in Love by Beyonce 18:56 7) Insane in the Brain by Cypress Hill 22:43 8) Crazy For You by Let Loose 25:22 9) (You Drive Me) Crazy by Britney Spears 29:24 10) She Drives Me Crazy by Fine Young Cannibals 32:41 11) Crazy by Gnarls Barkley 36:05 12) Crazy by Mark Morrison 38:58 13) Insanity by Praga Khan 42:40 14) Baby's Insane by Diamanda Galas and John Paul Jones 45:50 15) Crazy by Material Issue 50:15 16) Crazy Crazy Nights by Kiss 53:40 17) Shine on You Crazy Diamond (Parts I-V) by Pink Floyd 57:21 18) Crazy Little Thing Called Love by Queen 1:09:28 19) The Sanity Assassin by Bauhaus 1:11:58 20) Crazy Train by Ozzy Osbourne 1:15:47 21) You're Crazy by Guns 'N' Roses 1:20:30 22) Welcome Home (Sanitarium) by Metallica 1:23:44 23) Institutionalized by Suicidal Tendencies 1:30:00 24) Crazy Lovesick Fool by Brak, Zorak and Space Ghost 1:33:44 25) Crazy One by Ramases & Selket 1:35:15 26) Crazy by Patsy Cline 1:38:20 27) Miss You Like Crazy by Natalie Cole 1:40:56 28) Crazy Dream by Jim Dale 1:44:32 29) They're Coming to Take Me Away, Ha-Haaa! by Napoleon XIV 1:46:29 Comments[0] |

Wed, 18 July 2007 Containing songs with the word "beat" in it, this episode lent itself to be a bit more dance orientated than most of the previous podcasts. It begins and ends with two different versions of Coldcut's "More Beats & Pieces" because well, you've just got to admire anyone who slips "Peter & the Wolf" into thier remix. Of course this then makes my mixing skills sound shite by comparison, but what're you going to do? Mon, 2 July 2007 So, yeah I didn't really have a plan for this year's 4th of July podcast, but I had been planning a podcast called "The Big Bang" and then the gears in my brain started turning and I kind of did this... "well fireworks, they go bang don't they?" and well there you go. I did something I don't normally do in my episodes (aside from the repeating of a song from two previous episodes) and left in the experimental music and the comedy, though I put them at the end just in case the experimental music makes your speakers bleed (you have been warned)! If you don't like it I guess you can always listen to last years 4th of July episode "America". Fri, 22 June 2007 I should probably begin by saying that I am not actually suggesting people eat some of the animals mentioned in my podcast (because I know people are sensitive about dolphins), I was just trying to find a catchy (no pun intended) name for this week's theme which is all about various sea life (real and imaginary). I should also probably add that there is varying opinions upon what the acronym Scrod (Schrod) actually stands for. It has also been translated as Small Cod or Haddock Remaining on Dock or Special Catch Recorded on Day, or even that it isn't a acronym at all but simply derives from the ducth word schrod which meands "to fillet". Whatever the case may be, I hope you at least enjoy these fishy tunes. Tue, 22 May 2007 For our birthdays, my husband and I went away to London, which is a place I've been wanting to go forever. Also I've been dying to put "London Calling" by the Clash in an episode anyways, so I figured what better place then to do one all about that great city across the pond. I've also included a couple other British related items to fill the set. Wed, 25 April 2007 This week's cast has songs with the word game or games in the titles. I left two songs I had out: Quit Playing Games by the Backstreet Boys and Two Can Play at that Game by Bobby Brown, not so much because I was ashamed they were even on my computer to begin with (or else I wouldn't have mentioned them, besides they came on a compilation) but because they seemed like they ruined the continuity that was occuring with the songs, maybe they'll show up later in some other theme, who knows? Tue, 20 March 2007 Yes I know it's still March, but I wanted to get this one out in time to play on April 1, and the next episode doesn't come out until April 3, so I was naughty and decided to disrespect my Irish blood for this year and skip St. Patrick's day (though hopefully the weeks fall right next year and I can do a set then). Welcome to this episode featuring of course songs about fools. Thu, 22 February 2007 I had a couple of other casts ready to go, and instead decided on this impromtu set inspired by our weekend vacation to Las Vegas (no we weren't there for the NBA AllStar game, it was just a coincidence). Too bad I insisted the trip be a surprise, perhaps if I had this setlist to inspire me we would have won something, oh well! Anyways it's all songs about luck with a few songs about Vegas. Mon, 5 February 2007 A little explanation, "The Name Game" will be a series with song titles featuring the Full Name (first and last and occasionally middle initials or names) of a person or persons. There will be several installments (not all in a row) one featuring movie themed names, music themed names, book themed names, television themed names, and celebrity themed names (which will basically anyone who doesn't fit into the previous categories such as sports themed names, political themed names etc.) This installment is the original non-celebrity edition. Mon, 22 January 2007 No, I swear I am not running out of ideas for themes. I was originally going to wait to do this episode, as we just had a Hero theme about ten episodes ago, but I'm so psyched that the television show "Heroes" is back on tonight with new episodes, I just had to!! These songs are less general and refer to our heroes and heroines by name. Not all of them were specifically written about a particular hero, but the ones that aren't still seemed to suit the particular character I had in mind. This setlist features visual aides (for those of you viewing it from the actual blog at http://ishtarandromeda.libsyn.com) but won't work if you're looking at the setlist from a podcatcher. Thu, 11 January 2007 The holidays are over, and it's back to work. As such this weeks theme is all about work. I went out on a limb a little on a couple of songs because I really wanted them in there, even though thier titles technically did not have the words work, worker or working in the title. Also thanks to my husband, Steven, for the title since I couldn't think of a fun one, and for suggesting a couple of the songs. Tue, 19 December 2006 The 2006 Christmas podcast, so big I had to make it an hour longer than the average Theme Show episode. Yes, this means it will take a bit longer to download it, but it should be worth it simply for a selection of Christmas songs you probably won't hear anywhere else this year (Mud, Gary Glitter, Slade, The Ramones, "Weird Al" Yankovic). I tried to keep it as clean as possible, but as always use caution (just in case). Mon, 31 July 2006 This podcast features songs which for the most part wouldn't ever be covered in most other categories. Basically the titles of all the songs in the cast are comprised mainly of nonsense and made-up words. I actually had to cut a few that I wanted to put in for time contraints, due to the presence of In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida by Iron Butterfly. I just couldn't bring myself to put in the radio edit, it made no sense to me to put a version of a song famous for being one of the first recorded drum solos, and then put a version that doesn't even have the solo in it, so hopefully you all like this song; as I have put in the unedited 17 minute version. Look for the songs I decided to leave out someday in a future cast, Son Of Utter Nonsense... maybe. Wed, 19 July 2006 Welcome to another Flashback Edition of the Theme Show. The Birds theme was originally broadcast December 16, 1999. I reworked it a little again, sticking only to songs which had bird in the titles. Sorry, this is about a day late. The joke is that I own all the CD's yet for some reason I was hard pressed to find a copy of Free Bird and apparently I need to buy a 3rd copy of The White Album because it's missing... again (instead I had to put a cover.. I felt bad replacing the Beatles, but it turned out the cover was a nice pick me up for the set). So yeah, for some reason 75% of songs about birds are mellow, so this is a really subdued set. Also for those of you that remember from way back the Theme Shows all used to end in an Obligatory Polka, in this case I left it in (sort of). Songs which appeared in the original cast, designated with an *. Sat, 1 July 2006 OK, I know I said BI-weekly. :-) But I realized I probably should have started off the show with this cast instead of Space Is The Place, since it makes no sense to have it available AFTER the holiday! DUH! DUH! DUH! Anyways; if you're looking for a nice fluffy happy Forth of July soundtrack with America the Beautiful and God Bless America, then this is not your mix. Either that or just skip over everything and go to the last track. The mix gets a bit sarchastic and un-patriotic, but I end it on an ironic note with God Bless The U.S.A. because well while we may have our issues, at least I still have the freedom to play these somewhat un-patriotic songs without going to the stockades, or worse! Tue, 27 June 2006 This is a Flashback Edition of the first cast from 12/02/1999. Back then it was simply entitled Space and didn't really stick to the theme as it jumped around from space to stars to planets (which will now be featured later in thier own casts). I have mixed the setlist, removed some songs and replaced them with new ones for more continuity. Songs which appeared in the original cast, designated with an *.
