After many years with Libsyn, I have decided to self-host my podcast. The old episodes are currently being relocated, and new material will hopefully be available soon, after a long three year hiatus from podcasting. You will find the new home at: redirect has been set up for those of you published via iTunes and/or the RSS feed, but be sure to bookmark the new page, just in case that doesn't go smoothly. Thank you for listening!!

Sorry this episode is a wee bit late. Among other things my CD-Rom broke and I couldn't rip tracks. I also had some personal issues that kept me busy for the past couple of weeks. This episode is dedicated to my friends, who listened to me when I needed them the most, and to the many artists (some of whom regularly feature in the show) who write songs that inspire me and help me through both good times and bad. You are all my "light" and with your guidance I can overcome whatever obstacles lay ahead. Well I did a podcast about cats, and birds (twice even!) so I figured it was about time to give dogs a whirl. Yeah it probably should have been about God, or Jesus or even bunnies being as Easter is coming up, but it's not! :-) REMINDER: Before e-mailing me regarding questions, problems, requests, please read the F.A.Q!http://ishtarandromeda.libsyn.com/index.php?post_id=104989 Setlist 1) Black Dog by Led Zeppelin 0:00 2) Hound Dog by Elvis Presley 4:49 3) Hey Bulldog by The Beatles 7:01 4) Atomic Dog [Original Extended Version] by George Clinton 10:09 5) Jingle of a Dog's Collar by Butthole Surfers 19:59 6) Diamond Dogs [Live] by David Bowie 23:02 7) The Dogs of War [Live] by Pink Floyd 29:05 8/9) Dogs, Part 1 36:18 and Dogs, Part 2 38:56 by The Who 10) Dog End of a Day Gone By by Love and Rockets 41:19 11) I Wanna Be Your Dog [Live] by Iggy Pop 48:20 12) Underdog by Butthole Surfers 52:31 13) Hot Doggie by Colourbox 56:16 14) All God's Dogs by Neither/Neither World 59:09 15) The Quarterdrawing of the Dog by Siouxsie and the Banshees 1:04:01 16) Backwards Dog by The Soup Dragons 1:08:20 17) Dog Eat Dog by "Weird Al" Yankovic 1:10:34 18) Dog New Tricks by Garbage 1:14:14 19) Hot Dog [12" Remix] by Martini Ranch 1:18:10 20) Bite of Dog by Die Form 1:25:51 21) Doggie Tom (Overture) by Lords of Acid 1:31:40 22) Hot Dog by Led Zeppelin 1:35:24 23) My Dead Dog Rover by Hank, Dave, Stu and Hank 1:38:26 24) Dog on Wheels by Belle and Sebastian 1:40:41 25) Smart Dog by Kula Shaker 1:43:36 26) Dog Eat Dog by Adam and the Ants 1:46:50 27) Dogs Rule the Night by Porno for Pyros 1:49:45 28) Dog's Life by Kottonmouth Kings feat. So as I sit here looking out the window at snow... again... and thinking about how Punxatawney Phil saw his shadow this year which means there's at least two more weeks left of winter (since that was four weeks ago) I figured: never underestimate the power of positive thinking, and decided to make an extra long set of songs all about the sun. Enjoy! So I was trying to come up with a Valentine's Day sort of theme, I was originally going to do songs with "heart" in the titles... but had way too many songs and couldn't decide which ones I wanted more than others. In the meantime I have been archiving my old websites and came across the setlist for January 19, 2000's episode "Love Stinks" which was always one of my favorites. As is probably obvious, I had just had a really bad breakup about 4 months prior to the episodes original airing, so it's not really nice and fluffy. I kept all the same songs (so no need for the usual flashback asterisks) just reorganized them into a better mix. There are also two "blocks" in this set as I had far less CDs back in 2000 than I have now, so hope you really like Prozzak and "Weird Al" Yankovic a lot. As far as the title, it is named after a party a friend of mine in college used to throw every Valentine's day, in which you were not allowed to do anything Valentiney whatsoever (no dates, no hooking up while at the party, etc.). Stictly meant as an antithesis to the entire holiday, so I thought it appropriate. This week's theme has to do with all things military. Originally it was meant only to be about various ranks (General, Major, Sergeant, Etc.) but I kind of ran out of songs and improvised a bit. Also included in this set is the track "... Of Free Enterprise" by Coil for my friend Terri, though it does not specifically have a name having anything to do with the military, because she and I always joked it sounded a bit like a Salvation Army Band being slaughtered by Cenobites (Coil was at one point Clive Barker's favorite band). It also begins and ends with skits by my favorite comedian, Eddie Izzard, because I just couldn't resist putting either the bit about the 1st Battalion Transvestite Brigade nor the bit about using Orange Frooties as weaponry out. So without futher ado... I was feeling scandalous, what can I say? It all started because I was looking for the good version of Masochist by Die Form (version 4) and kind of just spiraled from there. In case you weren't already sure, this episode is not at all child friendly, so consider yourself warned. Oh and for those not so quick people out there, yes it is a S& M themed cast. Alrighty, for those of you that don't read the MySpace page, it's been a crazy december here, and though I did try to get up a Christmas episode, I was doomed from the start because everytime I tried to upload new songs, my computer would be all pesky and give me error messages, so I took the month off instead. But it's a new year, so no more being lazy! And with the new year comes lots of songs about other "New" things, so hope you all had happy holidays and enjoy!
